We all know that texting and driving is against the law, the legislators may now need to add playing Pokemon while driving under that rule too.
According to http://www.cartelpress.com/ , a huge accident involving multiple vehicles occurred on a major highway in Massachusetts after 26 year old Lamar Hickson had stopped in the middle of the highway to catch a Pikachu.
Yes, you read that correctly. This isn’t a joke!
Lamar Hickson told police that he was playing the Pokemon app game “Pokemon Go” while driving.
Citing from Cartel Press, he said “Sh*t if you wanna catch them all you gotta risk it all so I put my car in park and started tossing these balls”.
Thankfully no one was hurt. Charges against Hickson has not been filed yet.
After speaking to one of the victims from the car accidents, it was discovered that he too had been playing the same game.
What is all the fuss about with this game you may ask?
Well, according to http://www.ign.com/ , this newly released Pokemon game is rated as the best exercise app currently on the market since it makes you move and catch the monsters in the game.
For those that are not familiar with the app,”Pokémon GO uses your phone’s GPS and camera to turn the real world into a massive hunting ground for the iconic creatures, and also transforms local landmarks and businesses into Pokémon Gyms (where trainers go to train their Pokémon and battle other teams) and PokéStops, which players can physically visit to stock up on free accessories and items like PokéBalls.”-http://www.forbes.com
In a review ,writer Terri Schwartz, stated that playing the Pokemon game was causing her to stray away from tackling her daily tasks as she usually did.
She now found herself, waiting for a time when she could go outside again, “… to walk the opposite direction she usually do to try to find the Growlithes and Meowths that supposedly prowl her neighborhood just out of reach.”-http://www.ign.com/
Walking is rare for many folks residing in Los Angeles.
“The fact that Pokemon Go pushes you to go outside and go explore is simple but immediately effective in its execution. After our dog walk, I was stuck in my house, which was depressingly barren of Pokemon to catch. I kept hoping I would be faced with a Pidgey infestation like IGN’s Andrew Goldfarb,” Scwartz said.-http://www.ign.com
“Plenty of other companies have used games to incentivize movement. Nintendo reinvigorated the exercise video game market with the Wii thanks to Wii Fit (and the Wiimote in general, which encouraged you to get off the couch to play games like Wii Sports). There are straight-forward exercise games like Nike+ Kinect Training and EA Sports Active, dance games like Just Dance that follow in the footsteps of DDR, and plenty of other options. But all of them have you stationed in one place, chained to a TV, watching the minutes tick away. None of them are on the go, and none are as simple in concept as Pokemon Go,”according to http://www.ign.com.
