Instead of keeping his winnings of $500,000 from a lottery ticket, a Michigan teen decided to hand most of it over to his parents after claiming the money on March 17th.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the 19 year old revealed that he plans on investing $5,000 and giving the rest to his parents as a way of showing appreciation for everything they’ve done for him.
“My parents have done so much for my sister and me. Helping them takes a big weight off of their shoulders and mine,”he said, in a lottery bureau release according to USA Today.
He had purchased the last remaining Golden Wild Time Ticket at a gas station in Sunoco.
Initially he thought his parents were playing a trick on him after scratching the ticket in the store until he noticed how excited they genuinely looked.
The Golden Wild Time game launched in August has tickets sold for $10 each.
