One singer made quite a statement at Sunday’s night Grammy show in an ensemble that left many scratching their heads in despair. It’s one thing to wear something that only Lady Gaga could pull off, but to wear a dress with Trump’s “Make America Great Again,” slogan enscripted across it, with everything going on in politics right now, had people go ballistic!

25 year old singer, Joy Villa was a trending topic all over Twitter last night. It seemed as if Villa was liking her “new found,” fame that she was getting, for she later took to her instagram account to write “Go big, or go home,” Villa later said on Instagram. “You can either stand for what you believe or fall for what you don’t. Above all, make a choice for tolerance and love. Agree to disagree. See the person over the politics, carry yourself with dignity, always.”

Many folks figured that this was all just a publicity stunt, after all, bad publicity, is better than nothing especially for a singer like herself, whose songs has gone under the radar for quite some time. Not many people knew who she was on social media prior to yesterday’s red carpet show. After, she was all that people could talk about. Her daring outfit led to a spike in her album sales.

“According to Nielsen Music, based on initial sales reports, the album sold 2,000 copies on Sunday in the U.S. — up from a negligible figure the day previous,”Billboard noted.

Some were surprised to find out that Villa  isn’t a new artist at all, she has been active in the music industry since 2001. She started performing at the age of 5 years old.

According to Wikipedia, CBS reported that in early February 2017, Villa’s record “I Make The Static” stood at “number one on Amazon’s top digital albums.” CBS also published a screen cap of the same album at #16 on the iTunes rank. She is currently signed under her self-titled music label.

She did some acting in her younger years, Wikipedia noted that from the age of 14 to 16, she had been with the “Youth Network TV on Comcast Television and has appeared in CSI: NY, Heroes Season 4 (episode: “Ox”), The Valley Girls and MTV Next and Hobgoblins 2.”

For the past 3 years, her name has appeared on the worst dressed lists  of several publications after walking across the red carpets at the Grammys..

Wiikpedia cited that:

“For the 2015 Grammy Awards, she wore a see-through dress made entirely out of orange construction-fencing material, designed by Andre Soriano. The dress was called “unusual” and “a first.”

“For the 2016 Grammy Awards, she wore a similarly see-through dress consisting mostly of fabric spikes. The Huffington Post named it as one of its “Most Outrageous Looks From The 2016 Grammys.”

And now in 2017, she donned an ill-fitting blue dress promoting Trump. What will she wear at next year’s Grammy Award Show?!

Fans of Ivanka Trump will no longer be able to purchase her products at their local Nordstrom store now that they’ve decided to stop doing business with her. In a statement released on February 2nd,  a rep from the department chain stated that based on sales, they decided  “not to buy it for this season,” “referring to the spring,” cited by the NY TIMES.

“We’ve said all along we make buying decisions based on performance.”

. A decline in her sales, was partly  due to the  #GrabYourWallet campaign trending all over social media, where people have been encouraging  others to stop buying products associated with President Trump, his family and his supporters.

On November 2nd, Nordstrom had to explain why they had decided to start selling Ivanka’s brand. In a tweet, they wrote that their decision in selling Ivanka’s products was nothing more than a business deal.

“We hope that offering a vendor’s products isn’t misunderstood as us taking a political position,”  they said according to the NY TIMES.
